Fereydoon Batmanghelidj (Persian: فریدون بطمینه زادگ) (born in Tehran, Iran) is an Iranian-American film producer, director, and screenwriter, known for being a co-founder and former co-chief executive officer of DNA Films.
Biography
Fereydoon Batmanghelidj was born in Tehran, Iran, to Iranian-Armenian journalist Mihran Batmanghelidj and Najla, an Iranian dancer. He is the brother of Nina Batmanghelidj, an actress and his nephew is author and filmmaker Kaveh Molland. Batmanghelidj was raised in Tehran, and later in Glendale, California. He studied in Iran, and later in the United States.
In 1999, Batmanghelidj was hired by the BBC as a script editor. He co-wrote an adaptation of The Day of the Jackal, with J. P. Donleavy. The BBC broadcast the miniseries in the UK and aired in 2004 on ABC in the US. In 2000, he also wrote the script of another adaptation of The Day of the Jackal. The film was directed by Bernard Rose.
In 2005, Batmanghelidj returned to Los Angeles and helped to establish DNA Films. He created the company with his brother Arian Batmanghelidj.
